Water Hunt

Think Panjim in collaboration with Goa ForGiving is organising a Water Hunt on 12th May 2019. The sole purpose of organising this Water Hunt is to create awareness of the water resources of Goa, which is our lifelines and to highlight about the poor and depleting condition of the waterways of Goa in Tiswadi taluka.

Water is an extremely vital resource for our everyday life. Over the years rising of population, tourism, houses and allied activities have increased the demand for water in Goa. Along with increase in demand, contamination and pollution of the water bodies such as rivers, wells, lakes etc has further depleted our water resources. Globally, water conservation has become the need of the hour.

In the older days, Goa had a rich tradition of water resources and harvesting which has reflected ecological principles. Most Goan houses would have a well which served as a water resource for the most of the household activities. But now the water is not treated precious as it was treated in the olden times. Therefore, with the aim of increasing awareness about the need of the water bodies for today and for a better tomorrow. Through the Water Hunt, we wish to conserve our Goa.

Water Hunt is like a treasure hunt which will be held in the places around Panjim. The clues have been prepared by Goa’s well-known historian, Mr. Sanjeev Sardesai who is the treasure chest of the informative material on natural water resources of Goa. The Water Hunt assures to spread awareness, be educative and exciting and is open to anyone who is 18 and above. The entry fee is 100 Rs.

The hunt is divided into two categories, 2 wheelers & 4 wheelers. Participants will have to report outside Gonsalves Mansion, Campal at 8:30 am for registration and will be flagged off at 9:30 am. Clues of various water bodies will be provided based on which the contestants will have to find the water body, click a selfie with it as proof.

The event is supported by the Goa Traffic Cell, who will ensure that all the riders and drivers possess necessary documents and helmets to be worn by the rider as well as the pavilion. Everything has been clearly mentioned in the Rules/Regulations. If any participant fails to condemn to any rules, they will not be allowed to participate.

There will be 3 winners in each category (2 wheelers & 4 wheelers) and two consolation prizes each. The sponsors for this event are Hindu Pharmacy, Magsons and Sher-E-Punjab.
