Forgotten Recipes of Goa

In a bid to revive and relive these recipes, Taste of Goa in association with Aaichi Ranchikud is organising a recipe contest called ‘The Forgotten Recipes of Goa’. The contest is currently ongoing on social media like Facebook, twitter and Instagram. The contest began on the 23rd of June. We are now in the process of shortlisting 15 best recipes, and the final competition will take place among these participants. The competition is doing great with over 200 recipe entries. The participants will be judged on the method of cooking and the knowledge of ingredients used. The entries can be found on this link on facebook.
The 15 shortlisted contestants will go through a live cook-off on the 29th of July at O’Coqueiro in Porvorim.


Judges for the Competition are

Amita Nayak Salatry

Amita Nayak salatri is a popular TV actor, writer and one of the eminent Goan Master Chefs, who has always worked towards preserving authentic Goan dishes. She has hosted various cookery shows and has written many books on cooking, gardening, moral values in Marathi and English.

Mini Ribeiro

A Food Critic, Independent Writer & Consultant, food is the pivot of her existence. A qualified Journalist from IIMC New Delhi, with 30 years of experience, Mini Ribeiro enjoys everything about food - whether it is cooking a meal daily at home, being a judge at a food event or tasting a new dish created by chefs and learning more about it, her passion is unbridled.


Chef Avinash Martins

Chef Avinash Martins is a young vibrant chef who has travelled the world in pursuit of good food. He always experiments and infuses local produce into his modern dishes. His restaurant ‘Cavatina’ in Benaulim shows his passion for food.

Smt. Shobha Ashok Kamat

Smt. Shobha Ashok Kamat has spent six decades of her life in cooking. She has earned accolades at various cooking competitions, and has come up with a venture named Aaichi Ranchikud, which is all about preserving traditional Goan recipies which are currently fading away. She has also started a tiffin services in Goa which has proved a blessing for office Goers and senior citizens.

Our Chief Guest for event will be the Hon. Minister of Art & Culture, Shri Govind Gaude.
