In 2008, the residents of Campal along with the CCP planted saplings in the heritage precinct of Campal. Noted designer Wendell Rodricks, who also has a showroom in Campal was a part of the drive. It feels great to see these saplings now grown into huge trees which add to the beauty of Campal.
The children of Hamara School and residents of Campal including Armando Gonsalves, Chairman
of The Goa ForGiving Trust; Kabir Makhija, CCP Councillor; Patricia Pinto; Ricardo
Rebelo; Nalini De Souza and others joined in for the Tree Plantation Drive which
was also organised by The Goa ForGiving Trust in association with the CCP. All sapling
were planted by the children, which gave us a great opportunity to spread the awareness
and importance of growing trees among children. They were happy planting them too
and didn’t mind soiling up their hands. Members of the Rotaract Club Of Panaji also
joined in and supported the drive.
We hope that this drive inspires a lot of people, especially the youngsters, to
grow trees and understand their importance. We need to make the City of Panjim greener
just like Campal, where the streets are roofed and framed by beautiful trees. Goa
Needs to be made Clean and Green and only WE can do it!
